Medal Monday, Race Director Edition

This weekend was my neighborhood’s second ever 5k, and I was once again the Race Director. It’s a lot of work, and I should probably take RRCA’s certification course so that I’m better equipped, but so far it’s going really well!

We had a Shamrock Shuffle, and I hope to do a post dedicated to small neighborhood race planning, but for now, he’s a few pics I took before I picked up my fancy camera for the finisher photos, plus a few that I snagged from the Facebook page. I can’t post the finisher photos, because there are kids in them. We had trophies for first place Irishman, Colleen, Laddie, and Lassie.

Keeping Your Mitts Warm with Run Mitts

I received this delightfully warm pair of Run Mitts as part of being a BibRave Pro (Ambassador). Check out BibRave.com to find and write race reviews!!!

It seems strange to be posting about gloves today! It is currently "Sprinter" in the South. It is still cold in the morning, but right now, at around 3 pm, it is actually 72 degrees! This wasn't always the case, and I know I have friends who still have snow in their yards, so hopefully this is reaching al of my snow bound peeps!

See! Look at those layers! I got to try them out for the first time on a walk in my neighborhood. They are so cozy and warm, and they even have a little pocket on the inside for you to insert hand warmers!

I tried them out again on the ultimate test day. When we did our virtual Hot Chocolate Race, it was around 28 degrees at the start and didn't go above 32 degrees before we finished. It was so cold, but my hands were so warm.

Lissa took this pic of Toni and I somewhere around mile 1.5 or so. I turned the flaps back so that I could read the turn by turns she had made us. The flaps don't have a thumb hole, so all of your fingers are free. It was so easy to flip, and made the morning that mnuch easier.

I chose the Double Velour Fleece Run Mitts, which come in a variety of colors and sizes. They have the inside pocket I mentioned above and they are made in the USA. They also sell face masks and gaiters, if you are in need of one! It is a woman owned company, which you know I love!

If you use BIBRAVE5  at checkout during the month of March, you will get $5 off.

Baby Goat Yoga at Wildflower Farm, Orlando

Omg y’all, my birthday present from the hubs this year was a whirlwind trip to Orlando for Baby Goat Yoga at Wildflower Farm. My birthday isn’t until April, but this past weekend worked best. He arranged it with my friend Toni, and sent us off to Orlando!

I’m pretty much going to do a photo dump, but I wanted to talk a bit about it first. The farm was in a surprising area, I’m not gonna lie. We drove through a couple neighborhoods, thinking that Waze had led us astray.

This is the view from the back of the farm, looking towards the front. They had baby goats, mama goats, chickens, pigs, and their mama pig, Spice Girl, just had babies! Piglets everywhere!

That converter area is where we were set up, which was good, because it rained off and on the whole morning. Nothing crazy, but it would have made the yoga part way less fun!

They gave us each a soda bottle that was converted into a baby bottle and we got to feed the baby goats! I legit squealed. I fed a baby goat! They also gave us some greens for the babies and replenished them throughout.

All during the yoga portion, which was designed to turn us into little baby goat play gyms, the babies hopped up onto our backs and even our fronts. Sometimes the owners would lure them up there with more greens, but just as often they would just jump up. It was amazing!

Afterward last we were able to purchase handmade soaps and tees. Toni and I got tees to commemorate the fun. The whole setup was very professional and so much fun. I will definitely be making a trip back there. It was an easy thirty minute drive from Disney.

Thursday Training Update

I haven’t done one of these in so long, and I feel like I say that a lot! This past week was a crazy one, to the point where my nutritionist asked me not to do it again! She reminded me about rest days as well.....

It started with a climb ride. I am training to ride Haleakala on the Peloton, which is a 5 hour climb. I planned to do two hours and I nailed it!

I’m thinking of doing Haleakala to celebrate one year with the bike, I just have to check which day in May that I got it!

So, you’d think I would rest on Friday, right? Nah! I did a tour. Now, this was kind of low impact and I totally phoned it in, but I finished!

It was my 20th Tour overall, and my 9th this year. I usually burn 1200-1400 calories, so you can see how much easier this one was!

Saturday was a rest day. Nahhhhh it was the Hot Chocolate 15k, which I wrote about on Monday, and ended up being a 10k thanks to below freezing temps and Toni’s asthma. I wasn’t mad.

Sunday was a rest day. No. Really. I was done. I did close to nothing. I think we grocery shopped. That’s all.
Monday was my 350th ride! 🎉🎉🎉

I planned it so that I could start with a warmup ride, did some yoga to work towards the flash badge challenge, and then did the ride. I even got a shout out! It was my first ever, and I’ve done live rides for every milestone except 250! Woohoo! Oh, and I ran 1.5 miles that night!

Tuesday was yoga and a walk with the hubs and the pups. I earned that flash badge!!

Wednesday started with teaching yoga and then another Tour. I know, I know. It was a good one, and it was hard! I also walked a couple miles with my friend Cary.

The pic at the top is from yesterday’s walk. It was 70 degrees yesterday and it hit 70 again today! It’s going to drop back down, but I’m enjoying it while it lasts!!

What was your favorite workout this week?
